BELLA-BOUND KATE NASH TOPS CHARTS BUT T3 HAVE TO STAY IN US
Kate Nash, the singer-songwriter from London, looks poised to grab top spot in the charts on the Sunday before her appearance at Belladrum Festival (Beauly, Inverness-shire; 10th & 11th August) but sadly her heroes, the Tennessee 3 will not make the event due to illness
The Tennessee 3 are unable to perform at the event due to the sudden illness of key band member Bob Wootton. The band’s place at the festival will be taken by Britain’s leading Johnny Cash tribute band, ‘The Ring Of Fire’, and Cash fans amongst Belladrum ticket-holders may be offered another chance to see the band
Kate said recently her ambition had been to enter the charts at number 17 because that was the position ‘Walk The Line’ went in at. Besides playing her own set at the festival, she had accepted an invitation from the Tennessee 3 to sing ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’ on stage with the band.
The Tennessee 3’s Bob Wootton, who was operated on for prostate cancer on 18th July, has developed complications and has been forbidden to travel by his doctor. As he fulfills the role of lead vocalist and guitarist in the T3, the band were forced to cancel the trip.
Festival organizer Joe Gibbs said: “Lovers of Johnny Cash’s music will have something to look forward to at the festival in ‘The Ring of Fire’ who are the finest Cash tribute band around. And if Bob recovers in time, both we and the band want to give T3 fans a chance to see them at the end of their Irish tour planned for September. We are asking fans to hold on to their ticket stubs in case that opportunity occurs”
Last year Martha Wainwright was unable to appear at the event at the last minute, but both she and Belladrum have succeeded in re-staging her appearance this year to the delight of fans.
