BELLADRUM
TARTAN HEART FESTIVAL NEWS |
MARTHA'S
BE'N HIRED She's
back! Martha Wainwright, talented songstress sister of Rufus and
daughter of the Canadian folkster hero Loudon is playing Bella
as a special guest. Last year Martha had to cancel her appearance
at the festival at the last minute and fly back to Canada to be
with her mother who had been taken ill. But after pleas from fans
and festival organizers, she has agreed to honour the booking a
year later. |
RUSH ME SATURDAY TICKETS A
limited number of Saturday tickets are available at all ticket outlets
(see www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk for
details). The tickets are held at 40 pounds - last year's price -
and include camping and parking. Free 12 & Under Saturday tickets
(max 3 per adult) are also available. If Saturday's the only day
you can make, hurry while stocks last! Friday day tickets are not
available. |
NINE BLACK ALPS Manchester
is in vogue at Bella this year as headliners James are joined by
post grunge indie rock quartet Nine Black Alps (who are named after
a line in a Sylvia Plath poem). Following the success of their first
album 'Everything Is', the Alps' second oeuvre is due out in 2007
and in making it the band are said to "furrow their brows, vent
their spleens and bleed their hearts into the production of a glorious
technicolour audiophonic dreamscape." Anyway, the music's great. |
SECRET INVERNETIAN MASKED BALL Romance
comes alive at Bella, 11.00 PM on Saturday August 11th when all Marshall
stacks and other amplifiers turn into pumpkins. Besides the many
things to do after curfew at Bella, this year is to your chance to
dance the night away at the Secret Invernetian Masked Ball, to the
strains of a string quartet. ONLY THOSE WEARING MASKS WILL BE GRANTED
ENTRY. So brush up your waltzes, polkas and jigs and don your disguise
to hide all but your eyes. |
WALK THE LINE Ever
wished you'd walked 20 feet over 1200 degrees embers without so much
as bubbling your toenail varnish? Well, now's your chance to do so
and to raise some bucks for Maggie's Cancer Care Centres. Take up
the Blaze Firewalk Challenge on Friday 10th August at Bella. For
further details, contact Fiona MacRae at fionam.maggies.centre@ed.ac.uk or
at www.tartanheartfestival.co.ukTHINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW (AND DIDN'T WANT TO) Belladrum Festival is the only festival in the world 76.3 miles from Achiltibuie. |
