TWIN ATLANTIC & ABERFELDY FOR BELLA
We're absolutely over the moon to announce the return of Twin Atlantic, after providing us with one of the defining moments and highlights of Bella 08. Twelve months later, the band have toured the States, signed a record deal and now return to step up from the Seedlings stage and take the roof off the Hothouse. Our don't miss tip of the weekend! We've also added another Bella veteran in the shape of Aberfeldy . Back with a slight change in personnel, their infectious folky pop we guarantee to be a hit on the Grassroots stage and prove why they're still one of this nations most underated acts. And a last minute change, as The Joy Formidable step into the shoes of Howling Bells. One of the most tipped new acts in the UK today, expect an incendary performance
Can’t get tickets to the real thing? Come and see Marty Byrne as Scotland’s No 1 tribute to the Big Yin at Bella in the Venus Flytrap on both days at Bella. During his live show, he mixes classic Billy Connolly routines and observations with his own, and as a talented musician himself plays and sings all the favourite songs audiences always demand such as the 'Welly Boot Song' and 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E.' as well as hilarious self-penned songs performed in true Billy Connolly style.
Courtesy of Hi-Arts and under the curatorship of Peter Urpeth, Bella goes lit this year on a whole new stage – the Read Bed - featuring an array of writers, poets and musicians form the Northern and Western Isles including: Kevin MacNeil and Willie Campbell (Isle of Lewis); Pam Bessant (Orkney); Alan Jameson (Shetland); Roger Hutchinson (Raasay); Norrie Bissell & Mark Sheridan (Luing); Iain Morrison & Davy Martin (Lewis); Ian Stephen, Peter Urpeth and Raymond MacDonald (Lewis); Jospeh Murphy; and Mark Goodwin & Miles Campbell (Skye); all this plus the Moniack Mhor 6-word short story competition. Last year’s winner: ‘Then I noticed the twenty policemen’ – Eilidh Hunter, Newmachar
We’ve added some exciting new items to our range of official merchandise this year, including Bella Bella hot pants, an organic cotton shopping bag, and a festival Umbrella – or Um-Bella as we like to call it - to shelter you from the blazing sun (or occasional shower). We also have event t-shirts, hoodies to keep you warm as the evening draws in, and of course the laminate program, packed with listings and event info. Merchandise often sells out early at Belladrum, so be sure to pop along early.
How about leaving the car at home this year, and coming to Bella via CityLink’s services.
