Bella’s lead charity for 2019 is The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) who will be collecting donations in memory of Scott Hutchison from Frightened Rabbit. The band were due to headline the Hot House stage in 2018 to perform their seminal album ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’ in full. Devastatingly Scott passed away in May this year. Over the course of the weekend of Belladrum a number of tributes took place including, an audio-visual tribute to the band in their headline slot, also The Charlatans invited Scott’s brother and bandmate Grant Hutchison and fellow Frightened Rabbit member Billy Kennedy on to the stage during their set to perform the Frightened Rabbit track ‘Head Rolls Off’.
When buying tickets on-line with Skiddle, Bella patrons are being given an opportunity to contribute to SAMH in memory of Scott.
SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health issues in Scotland for more than 90 years.
SAMH was founded in 1923 to provide support to a wide network of Local Associations for mental health.
SAMH services are person centred and based on an ethos of recovery. They provide mental health social care support, homelessness, addictions and employment services, among many others.
These services, together with their national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform their policy and campaign work to influence positive and social change in Scotland.
SAMH work continues under three strategic goals:
- Being there for people
- Promoting Good Mental Health
- Ending Stigma and Discrimination
